RPGenesis 2019 is live!

August 04, 2019
Are you familiar with NanoWrimo (for writer), NanoEmo (for emoticon pixel artists) or WorldEmber (for worldbuilders)? RPGenesis follows a similar trend. Its goal is to encourage people from the tabletop roleplayers to let their creativity flow and create new games that the rest of the community can enjoy. There are no winners or prizes.

Between August 4th and 10th, you get the chance to challenge yourself to write (on your own), a TRPG of at least 5000 words. It can be 100% original or a hack of existing games but the goal is for the game to be fully playable just with whatever you write down, which means that, rather than just writing something like "this game uses a mix of D&D rules with Mouse Guard rules and Numenera rules", you need to actually write down all the mechanics and rules needed to play the game, in as much or little detail as you need.

Some people who are used to writing a lot think that 5000 words is a breezy walk in the park and are aiming to create elaborate games with over 15000 words. Novice writers, or gamers who are new to the RPG reality and are not that well familiar with different systems they can draw uppon inspiration to create their own rules, can simplify the game as much as possible and create simpler games, akin to Honey Heist.

Last year's edition was only national but this year they opened doors for the international community to join in on the fun as well, thus allowing entries to be written in Portuguese or English.
